Statement by India during Interactive Dialogue at 4th UPR of Chad during the 45th Session of  Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group (22 January-2 February 2024) delivered by Shri K.S.Mohammed Hussain, First Secretary, Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations, Geneva on 30 January 2024

Mr. President,

 1. India thanks the delegation of the Republic of Chad for the presentation of its National Report.

 2. India commends Chad’s efforts to promote and protect human rights by ratifying various conventions pertaining to the rights of child, combating trafficking, and racial discrimination and   transposing these conventions into the domestic legal order, thereby harmonizing domestic and international provisions in the process.  We appreciate the adoption of the legislation on the prevention of acts of terrorism in the Republic of Chad.

 3. In the spirit of constructive dialogue, India recommends that Chad further strengthen its domestic legal and policy framework to achieve enjoyment of  fundamental human rights.  

 4. We wish the delegation of the Republic of Chad all success in its review
