Statement by India at the 45th Session of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group (22 Jan – 2 Feb 2024) for the 4th UPR of the China delivered by Mr. Gaurav Kumar Thakur, Counsellor

Mr. President,

India warmly welcomes the delegation of China.

  1. India takes note of the progress made by China on the recommendations received during the previous cycle.
  1. India recommends the following:
  1. Continue taking steps to ensure fullest enjoyment of basic human rights by its people, through inclusive and sustainable development.
  2. Continue taking measures to promote gender equality and empowerment of all women and girls.
  3. Continue to play a constructive role in the realization of aspirations of developing countries, including through reform of multilateral institutions.
