Statement by India during Interactive Dialogue at 4th UPR of Bangladesh during the 44th Session of  Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group (6-17 November 2023) delivered by Mr.Indra Mani Pandey, Ambassador & Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations, Geneva on 13 November 2023

Mr. President,

1. India warmly welcomes and thanks the delegation of Bangladesh for their presentation. We commend implementation of recommendations made during previous UPRs.

2. We appreciate Bangladesh for its engagement with the UN Human Rights mechanisms. We commend enactment of various laws to protect and promote human rights in Bangladesh. We appreciate commitment of the Government of Bangladesh to ensuring advancement of women in all fields, including their representation in decision-making processes.

3. In spirit of friendly relations, we recommend that Bangladesh:

a) strengthen its efforts to improve the education system and ensure equal access to quality education for all, particularly for women and girls.

b) Continue to make efforts to improve health infrastructure, particularly in rural areas.

4. We wish the delegation of Bangladesh all success.
