Mr. Vice President,

1.  India welcomes and thanks the delegation of Djibouti for presentation of their National Report.

2.  India takes note of developments in the normative and institutional frameworks for promotion and protection of human rights and encourages Djibouti to further strengthen its legislative and institutional framework to promote and protect human rights. We commend Djibouti for adoption of  the revised Code of Civil Procedure in 2020, aimed mainly at reinforcing the justice system and access to justice.

3.  In the spirit of constructive engagement, India recommends the following:

One,  allocate human, technical and financial resources necessary for the implementation of laws on child rights.

Two,    review its legislation and policies to strengthen social protection and poverty reduction schemes for persons with disabilities, with sufficient budget allocations to ensure that disability-related expenses are covered.

4.  We wish the delegation of Djibouti all success.

I thank you
