Thank you Mr. Vice President,

India welcomes and thanks the delegation of Burkina Faso for the presentation of their National Report.

 2. We appreciate the various measures taken by Burkina Faso for promotion and protection of human rights. We commend Burkina Faso for its efforts to promote and protect human rights since the last review in May 2018.

 3. We welcome Burkina Faso’s effort to instil a culture of human rights in its citizens including subscription to the World Programme for Human Rights Education.

 4. We take note of the measures to promote gender equality, including the adoption  of the National Gender Strategy, 2020; implementation of National Migration Strategy; and augmenting the working conditions of the National Human Rights Commission.

 5. In view of UNODC’s observation that Burkina Faso was a country of origin, transit and destination for trafficking in persons, India would like to recommend that Burkina Faso continue its efforts to address trafficking in persons effectively.

 6. We wish the delegation of Burkina Faso  all success.

I thank you.
