Statement by India during the 42nd Session of the Universal Periodic Review Working Group Meeting (23rd January – 3rd February 2023)

Mr. President,

India welcomes the delegation of Czech Republic. We appreciate Czechia’s efforts to improve the situation of Roma people in Czechia.

  1. In the spirit of dialogue and constructive cooperation, India recommends the following to Czechia:
  2. Take measures that the Office of the Ombudsperson be adequately resourced to carry out its functions effectively in accordance with the Paris Principles.
  3. Continue strengthening domestic legislation and measures for integration and inclusion of Roma community.
  • Combat hate speech against minorities including LGBTI, Asylum seekers and Roma.
  1. Continue to take further measures for combating human trafficking and rehabilitation of the victims of trafficking.
  2. Strengthen implementation of the existing measures to combat domestic and sexual violence against women.
  1. We wish Czechia success in its review.
