Statement by India during the Interactive Dialogue in the 4th UPR of Poland in the 41st Session of the Universal Periodic Review Working Group (07-18 November 2022) delivered by Mr. Senthil Kumar, First Secretary, Permanent Mission of India [Geneva, 15 November 2022]

Mr. President,

India extends a warm welcome to the delegation of Poland and thanks them for the presentation of their National Report.

  1. As a fellow member of the Human Rights Council, we appreciate Poland’s efforts in taking necessary steps to achieve significant progress in protecting and promoting human rights through various measures outlined in the National Report since its third UPR.
  1. We commend Poland’s achievements in promoting knowledge to combat stereotypes, prejudices and discrimination through its National Action Plan for Equal Treatment 2022-2030.
  1. In the spirit of dialogue and constructive cooperation, India recommends the following to Poland :
  1. Take adequate measures to guarantee full access to education for all children, including Roma children, in the country.

  2. consider paying necessary attention to promote the enjoyment of human rights for persons with disabilities, particularly of women and children.

  3. Adopt further effective measures to improve women’s political participation, and provide training and support to women candidates.
  1. Finally, we wish Poland all success in its future endeavors.
