Statement by India under Agenda Item 6 : Adoption of UPR Outcomes of Liberia at the 46th Session of the Human Rights Council

Madam President,

  1. We warmly welcome Liberia for the adoption of the Working Group’s report on its UPR undertaken on 02 November, 2020.
  2. The review saw active participation and constructive engagement with 79 delegations taking the floor and making 218recommendations. Its commendable that as many as 166 recommendations have been accepted by Liberia, including therecommendations made by India.
  3. We also appreciate the progress made by Liberia in terms of policy formulation and programmes to improve the promotion and protection of human rights in Liberia and its commitment to implement the recommendations and include them in the National Human Rights Action Plan.
  4. While recommending the adoption of the report, we warmly congratulate the delegation of Liberia for its successful review. We also wish Liberia all success in implementing the accepted recommendations.
