Statement by India at the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group 35th Session (20-31 January 2020): 3rd UPR of Armenia - Interactive Dialogue, delivered by Ambassador Rajiv K. Chander, Permanent Representative of India, [Geneva, 23 January 2020]

Mr. President

        India warmly welcomes the distinguished delegation of Armenia and thanks the delegation for presenting its National Report.

2. We commend the progress made by Armenia since its second UPR.

3. We recommend the following to Armenia:

  1. Continue to reinforce efforts to support inclusive growth and prioritize budgetary allocations in the health-care system in order to guarantee adequate, equitable and sustainable financing thereby augmenting the availability and accessibility of health services in all regions.
  2. Continue enhancing women’s access to basic health care and sexual and reproductive health services, in particular for rural women.
  3. Continue strengthening the legislative framework on Prevention of Domestic Violence and Protection of Persons Affected by Domestic Violence.
  4. Continue efforts to improve access to education for all, with special attention given to children from socio-economically disadvantaged sections.
  5. Consolidate the progress made towards reaching SDGs and in the improvement of human development indicators.
