Mr. President,

1. India thanks the delegation of Burkina Faso for the presentation of its National Report.

2. We appreciate the establishment of National Human Rights Commission in compliance with the Paris Principles and guaranteeing its administrative and financial independence. Effective operationalisation of the Commission is significant in the direction of promoting and protecting human rights and human dignity.

3. Despite various positive steps, we note the growing unemployment rate among youth and women in urban areas. We recommend Burkina Faso to continue its efforts to implement the national employment policy andestablish a universal social security system.

4. We welcome the adoption of national legislation on Universal Health System in order to reduce inequalities in access to health care. This would ensure basic social security scheme and the health insurance coverage. We also welcome the national legislation on prevention and punishment in respect of violence against women and girls.

5. We wish the delegation of Burkina Faso all success.

I, thank you Mr. President.
