  • Certificate in connection with taking of dead body to India

    • Application form for miscellaneous services (to be filled in by the person accompanying the dead body)

    • Death certificate from the relevant local authority

    • Burial / Cremation certificate from the relevant local authority.

    • Burial permit from the relevant local authority.

    • Permit to transport from the relevant local authority.

    • Transportation certificate from the relevant local authority.

    • Doctor's Free from Infection certificate.

    • Embalming certificate

    • Certificate from the undertaker confirming that the packing of body is in accordance with international regulations

    • Valid passport of the applicants accompanying the dead body 

    • Family registration book (if available).

    NOTE 1: If the deceased person held an Indian passport, the same may be brought to the Consulate for cancellation.

    NOTE 2: All certificates in languages other than English are required to be translated by official translator.

    NOTE 3: The above certificates should be first attested by the notary public and then by the Chancery of State ( No. 2, Hotel de Ville, Geneva )

Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Government of India has developed an e-Clearance for Afterlife Remains (eCARe) portal to streamline and expedite the process of Public Health Clearance for transporting human remains to India. The eCARe Web portal is aimed at integrating all stakeholders on a single all-in-one interface, including the consignee, Airport Health Organizations (APHOs) and airlines. The portal facilitates smooth and timely clearance of documents with automated periodic alerts and live status tracking. The eCARe User Manual and a FAQs document are available on the portal. All stakeholders including individuals, companies/Associations and Airlines engaged in sending human remains to India are requested to familiarize themselves with the online portal and process applications through the same.
