Right of Reply by India to Pakistan and OIC under Agenda Item 2 General Debate on the global update by the High Commissioner for Human Rights at the 58th Regular Session of the Human Rights Council (24 February – 4 April 2025) delivered by Ms. Anupama Singh, First Secretary, PMI Geneva

Geneva, 4 March 2025

Mr. Vice-President,

1. We are constrained to take the floor to exercise our Right of Reply against the malicious and motivated remarks made by Pakistan and OIC.

2. While it is laughable that a country with a human rights record as abysmal as that of Pakistan continues its obsession of spreading lies about India, it is even more unfortunate to see that the OIC has also once again allowed itself to be used as a mouthpiece for Pakistan’s anti-India propaganda.

Mr. Vice-President,

3. Not only are the entire territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh an integral and inalienable part of India, but more importantly, the last few years have ensured that their people have fully joined their fellow Indian citizens to become an equal beneficiary and partner of India’s growth story powered by democracy, diversity, and development.

4. The enthusiastic participation in the recent legislative assembly and provincial elections in Jammu and Kashmir makes clear the strong foundations of constitutionalism and the faith that the people have in them. And the economic progress is for everyone to see.

Mr. Vice- President,

5. It is unfortunate that this Council’s time continues to be wasted by Pakistan, and we do not wish to dignify this farce any further.

I thank you.
