Statement by India at the 3rd UNAOC Dialogue on AI for One Humanity: Human-Centered AI, delivered by Mr. Kshitij Tyagi, Counsellor, Permanent Mission of India, Geneva, 22 April 2025

Thank you Chair

We welcome the focus of today’s discussions on human-centered artificial intelligence.

Artificial Intelligence is transforming our economies, societies, and governance structures at unprecedented scale and speed. As our Prime Minister stated at the AI Action Summit in Paris, there is a need for collective global efforts to establish governance and standards that uphold our shared values, address risks, and build trust.

India has consistently advocated for human-centric AI governance, as seen in our leadership of the Global Partnership on AI and the G20. We believe AI should promote innovation, equity, and inclusion to the benefit of all.

Our National Strategy for AI (#AIForAll) focuses on inclusive growth. Initiatives like the IndiaAI Mission provide affordable access to compute resources and Responsible AI tools tailored to India’s diverse landscape.

India has developed a digital public infrastructure serving 1.4 billion people, underpinned by open networks, strong data governance, and techno-legal safeguards. Our Responsible AI for All framework ensures transparency, fairness, and accountability, addressing bias, privacy, and ethics.

We are building indigenous Large Language Models and developing AI solutions for public good through public-private partnerships. With one of the world’s largest AI talent pools, we are committed to sharing our experience globally.

At the Paris Summit, India announced its intent to host the next AI Summit, reaffirming our commitment to shaping an AI future that is human-centered, inclusive, and globally beneficial. We believe AI must empower individuals, respect human dignity, and bridge divides—not widen them. India stands ready to collaborate with all partners to ensure that AI serves humanity, protects our shared values, and advances sustainable and equitable development for all.

Thank you.
