Statement by India under Agenda Item 6: Adoption of UPR Outcomes of Portugal at the 58th Session of Human Rights Council (24 February - 4 April 2025), delivered by Mr. Mohammed Hussain K.S., Counsellor & Legal Adviser, Permanent Mission of India, Geneva, 24 March 2025
Mr. President/Vice President,
India warmly welcomes the delegation of Portugal for the adoption of the UPR Working Group’s report on its 4th UPR, held on 6 November 2024.
2. The review saw substantive participation with 101 delegations taking the floor and making a total of 281 recommendations. We appreciate the constructive engagement of the delegation of Portugal during the entire review, which reflects their commitment to the UPR process.
3. India appreciates that as many as 252 recommendations have been fully accepted by Portugal, including the three recommendations made by us and 11 recommendations partially accepted.
3. While recommending the adoption of their UPR report, we congratulate the delegation of Portugal on a successful review and wish them success in their efforts towards implementing the accepted recommendations.
