Madam Vice President,

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the Viet Nam delegation over the loss of lives and destruction caused recently by Typhoon Yagi. India warmly welcomes the delegation of Viet Nam for the adoption of the report of the Working Group on its 4th cycle of the Universal Periodic Review held on 7 May 2024.

2. The review saw substantive and constructive participation with 133 delegations taking the floor and making a total of 320 recommendations. We appreciate the constructive engagement of the delegation of Viet Nam during the entire review, which reflects their commitment to the UPR process.

3. India appreciates that as many as 271 recommendations have been accepted by Viet Nam, including all three recommendations made by us.

4. While recommending the adoption of their UPR report, we congratulate the delegation of Viet Nam on a successful review and wish them success in their efforts for implementing the accepted recommendations.

Thank you.
