Statement by India at the 48th Session of Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group: 4th UPR of Bolivia, delivered by Ms. Anupama Singh, First Secretary, Permanent Mission of India, Geneva, 21 January 2025

Mr. President,

We welcome the delegation of Bolivia. At the outset, we appreciate Bolivia’s efforts in restoration of democracy following developments of 2019.

2.We commend the progress made by Bolivia to reduce extreme poverty & inequalities, increase coverage to water & sanitation, improve access to decent housing & healthcare. We view that the framework of the 2025 Patriotic Agenda and the Economic and Social Development Plan 2021-2025 would play an important role in the comprehensive development of socio-economic sector and developments of institutional mechanisms at all levels.

3.In the spirit of constructive dialogue, India recommends the following to Bolivia:

i. Continue implementation of measures for reducing inequality, poverty and unemployment rates.

ii. Continue improving welfare of the older persons and persons with disabilities.

iii.Strengthen efforts to combat trafficking in persons.

4.We wish the delegation of Bolivia every success and the very best in its continued efforts.
