Mr. Vice-President,

  1. We have taken note of the report presented by the OHCHR, oral update by the SR and the interventions by other stakeholders during the Enhanced ID. We request the OHCHR to ensure that reports are uploaded well in advance, which would help the delegations examine them in detail well before the start of Council procedures.

  2. As a contiguous neighbour and a long-standing development partner, we continue to monitor the developments related to human rights.

  3. Our common and immediate priorities include providing urgent and uninterrupted humanitarian assistance to the Afghan People; formation of an inclusive and representative government structure; and combating terrorism and drug trafficking.  We support safeguarding the fundamental rights of all Afghans including women and girls and their participation in public life.

  4. As a friend of Afghan people, India will continue to deliver material humanitarian assistance and educational scholarships in Afghanistan. As Afghanistan’s largest regional development partner, we work constructively with UNWFP, UNODC and other UN agencies and appreciate their invaluable role.

  5. In conclusion, Mr. Vice-President, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the people of Afghanistan. India will continue to engage actively with all stakeholders, with the ultimate objective of securing peace and stability in Afghanistan.

Thank you.
