Thank you Madam Vice President,

India welcomes the delegation of Cambodia for presentation of its national report.

2.        We appreciate efforts of the Government of Cambodia to establish a national human rights institution and the efforts towards improving access to healthcare services, which has resulted in reduction in maternal and infant mortality rates since the last review.

3.         In the spirit of constructive engagement, we would like to make following recommendations:

One, continue efforts towards improving access to affordable and quality health care, especially for the poor and groups in vulnerable situations.

Two, continue efforts to improve the quality of education at all levels, especially in rural areas, including making primary education compulsory for all children and focus on equitable and inclusive access to education.

And three, make efforts to reduce gender-based violence in all of its forms, including putting practical steps to reduce domestic abuse.

4.        We wish the distinguished delegation of Cambodia all success.

           I thank you.
