Statement by India during the 4th Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of Dominican Republic in the 46th Session of UPR Working Group (29 April to 10 May 2024) delivered by Mr. Kshitij Tyagi, First Secretary, Permanent Mission of India, Geneva, 7 May 2024

Mr. Vice-President

1.  India warmly welcomes the delegation of the Dominican Republic.

2.  We appreciate the measures taken by the Dominican Republic towards the protection and promotion of rights of children, through the reform and strengthening of the National Council of Children and Adolescents.

3.  We also commend the steps taken by the Dominican Republic to combat human trafficking under the National Action Plan against Trafficking in Persons and Migrant Smuggling.

4.  In the spirit of constructive engagement, we recommend the following to the Dominican Republic:

  1. (i) Continue efforts to combat human trafficking and improve access to programmes for rehabilitation and social reintegration
  2. (ii) Continue to implement measures to combat gender-based violence

5.  We wish the Dominican Republic every success in its future endeavours.
