Statement by India during the Interactive Dialogue in the 4th Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of Eritrea in the 46th Session of UPR Working Group (29 April-10 May 2024) delivered by Mr. Kshitij Tyagi, First Secretary, Permanent Mission of India, Geneva, 6 May 2024

 Mr. Vice-President

1.  India warmly welcomes the delegation of Eritrea.

2.  We appreciate the measures taken by Eritrea towards the protection and promotion of rights of persons with disabilities through the National Policy for Persons with Disabilities and the Community-Based Rehabilitation and Development Programme. The efforts made by Eritrea in improving healthcare facilities are also noteworthy.

3.  We also commend the steps taken by Eritrea towards women empowerment through the National Union of Eritrean Women and its National Policy on Gender and Action Plan.

4.  In the spirit of constructive engagement, we recommend the following to Eritrea:

  1. I) Continue efforts to improve access to quality healthcare for all
  2. II) Continue to implement measures to protect and promote rights of women and girls

5.  We wish Eritrea every success in its future endeavours.
