Statement by India under Agenda Item 6: Adoption of UPR Outcomes of Peru at the 53rd Session of the Human Rights Council (19th June – 14th July 2023) delivered by Mr. Pawankumar Badhe, Counsellor

Mr. President,

India warmly welcomes the delegation of Peru for the adoption of the report of the Working Group on its 4th Universal Periodic Review undertaken on 25th January 2023.

2. We appreciate the constructive engagement by the delegation of Peru during the entire review, which reflects the strong commitment Peru attaches to the UPR process.

3. The review saw substantive participation of 68 delegations taking the floor and making 202 recommendations. We appreciate that Peru accepted 188 recommendations, including all 3 from India.

4. While recommending the adoption of the report, we congratulate the delegation of Peru for its successful review and wish it success in implementing the accepted recommendations.
