Intervention by India at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Commonwealth Small States Office delivered by Mr. Kshitij Tyagi, First Secretary, Permanent Mission of India, Geneva, 22 January 2024

  • I thank the Deputy Secretary General for convening today’s AGM. We are pleased to hear about all the initiatives and the wonderful work being done by CSSO in its support to the resident missions, both logistically and through technical assistance provided by the in-house experts in the areas of Trade and Human Rights.
  • We appreciate that the CSSO continued to provide Office Space to some (5) countries as well as (2) International organizations this year.
  • Last year, during his visit to Port Moresby for the 3rd FIPIC Summit, and meetings with leaders of 14 Pacific Island Countries, Prime Minister of India announced a slew of initiatives and projects, in line with our commitment to assisting capacity building in these countries. These initiatives and projects cover a wide array of domains such as healthcare, information technology, small and medium enterprises, renewable energy, water resources, and skill development, to name a few.
  • We remain an active contributor to CSSO and have enhanced our contributions over the past few years. We remain committed to continue our support to the CSSO in Geneva and hope that more countries are able to avail its services and facilities.
  • We thank all the other contributors for their support to the CSSO in Geneva and reiterate our commitment to continue working together with them and the Commonwealth Secretariat.
