Mr. President,
India takes note of the report of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of Human Rights in Cambodia.
We appreciate the positive cooperation of the Government of Cambodia with
OHCHR and welcome Cambodia’s engagement and constructive dialogue with the
Special Rapporteur, including unfettered access to the country.
India and Cambodia enjoy warm and friendly relations. India has been assisting
Cambodia with socio-economic projects in the fields of agriculture, health, women empowerment, capacity building, sanitation, environment and information technology. We stand committed to supporting Cambodia in its developmental efforts.
We are of the view that enhancement of State’s capacity through technical
assistance and capacity building measures in consultation with, and with the consent of, the State concerned contributes towards the improvement of the human rights situation on the ground.
