Statement by India under Agenda Item 6: Adoption of UPR Outcomes of       United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the 52nd Session of the Human Rights Council (27th February – 4th April, 2023) delivered by  Mr. Deepak Shinde, Deputy Secretary, Geneva on 27th March 2023 

Madam Vice-President,

1.  We warmly welcome the delegation of United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for the adoption of the Working Group’s report on its UPR undertaken on 10th November 2022.

2.  India appreciates the constructive engagement by the delegation of United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland during their review and their strong commitment to the UPR process.

3.  The review saw active participation and constructive engagement with 115 delegations taking the floor. We appreciate that UK has accepted 135 recommendations out of a total 302 recommendations they received, including 2 recommendations (out of 3) made by India.

4.  While recommending the adoption of the report, we congratulate the delegation of United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for its successful review and wish it success in implementing the accepted recommendations.
