Mr. President,

India warmly welcomes the delegation of Bahrain for the adoption of the report of the Working Group on its 4th cycle Universal Periodic Review, held on 7 November 2022.

  1. The review saw substantive and constructive participation with 92 delegations taking the floor and making a total of 245 recommendations.

  2. We appreciate that as many as 172 recommendations have been accepted by Bahrain, including 3 recommendations made by us. We also appreciate the constructive engagement of the delegation of Bahrain during the entire review, which reflects the strong commitment Bahrain attaches to the UPR process.

  3. India had taken positive note of the adoption of the National Human Rights Plan, the establishment of the Ministry of Sustainable Development for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and the signing of the Strategic Partnership Framework for Sustainable Development.

  4. While recommending the adoption of their UPR report, we congratulate the delegation of Bahrain on a successful review and wish them success in their efforts for implementing the accepted recommendations.

I thank you.
