Statement by India under Agenda Item 6: Adoption of UPR Outcomes of   Syrian Arab Republic at the 50th Session of the Human Rights Council

Mr. President,

We warmly welcome the delegation of Syrian Arab Republic for the adoption of the Working Group’s report on its UPR undertaken on 24th January, 2022.

  1. 2.The review saw active participation and constructive engagement with 91 delegations taking the floor and making 276  recommendations. It is noted that Syrian Arab Republic has accepted 207 recommendations and 39 noted. We appreciate that Syrian Arab Republic has accepted all three recommendations made by India.

  2. 3.India welcomes the enactment of the Children’s Rights Act of 2021 and the implementation of a range of programme interventions for social empowerment by the Syrian Arab Republic

  3. 4.While recommending the adoption of the report, we congratulate the delegation of Syrian Arab Republic for its successful review and wish it success in implementing the accepted recommendations.
