Statement by India under Agenda Item 6: Adoption of UPR Outcome of Republic of Moldova at the 50th Session of the Human Rights Council

Mr. President,
1. India warmly welcomes the delegation of Republic of Moldova for the adoption of the report of the Working Group on its 3rd UPR that was held on 28th January 2022.
2. The review saw active participation with 72 delegations taking the floor and making a total of 209 recommendations.
3. India appreciates that as many as 188 recommendations have been supported by Republic of Moldova, including all 3 recommendations made by us. We also appreciate the constructive engagement by the delegation of Republic of Moldova during the entire review, which reflects the strong commitment it attaches to the UPR process.
4. India had noted that the legislative, institutional and policy measures outlined in the national report of Republic of Moldova amply reflected its commitment to the promotion and protection of human rights. India had also appreciated steps taken during the pandemic to protect the most vulnerable members of the population by ensuring necessary health facilities and by fulfilling their basic needs.
5. While recommending the adoption of the report, we congratulate the delegation of Republic of Moldova for a successful review and wish them all the success in their efforts for implementing the accepted recommendations.
