Statement by India under Agenda Item 6: Adoption of UPR Outcomes of Haiti at the 50th Session of the Human Rights Council
(13th June – 8th July 2022) delivered by Mr. Pawankumar Badhe, First Secretary

[Geneva, 30th June, 2022]

Mr. President,

1.  We warmly welcome the delegation of Haiti for the adoption of the Working Group’s report on its UPR undertaken on 31st January, 2022.

2.  The review saw active participation and constructive engagement with 82 delegations taking the floor and making 221 recommendations. It is noted that Haiti has accepted 205 recommendations and 16 noted. We appreciate that Haiti has accepted all three recommendations made by India.

3.  We also appreciate the reform of judicial institutions in Haiti, where the Government had published a new Criminal Code and a new Code of Criminal Procedure that would come into force in this year.

4.  While recommending the adoption of the report, we congratulate the delegation of Haiti for its successful review and wish it success in implementing the accepted recommendations.

Thank you, Mr. President.
