Statement by India during the 43rdSession of the Universal Periodic Review Working Group Meeting (1st – 12th May 2023) 4th UPR of Mali Interactive Dialogue delivered by Mr. Pawankumar Badhe, Counsellor, Permanent Mission of India

Mr. President,
India warmly welcomes the delegation ofMali and thanks them for the comprehensive presentation.
2. We commend Mali’s efforts to promote and protect human rights since the last review in 2018 despite the severe socio-economic impact of the transition process and the COVID-19 pandemic. We note with appreciation Mali’s efforts to align its national legislations with human rights standards, strengthening of its National Human Rights Commission, and adoption of the National Policy on Gender.
3. In the spirit of dialogue and constructive cooperation, India recommends the following to Mali:
i. Redouble its efforts towards combatting gender-based violence;
ii. Consider further measures aimed at ensuring access to quality education for all children.
4. We wish Mali all success for its review.
