Mr. President,

It is a great honour and privilege to present, on behalf of the troika, composed of Czechia, Gabon and India, the draft report of the Working Group, on the Universal Periodic Review of Bahrain, distributed under the reference A/HRC/WG.6/41/L.1.  It is noteworthy that Bahrain is the first State to be reviewed in the 4th cycle of the Universal Periodic Review.

During the interactive dialogue, with the State under review, held on 7 November 2022, 92 delegations delivered their statements and 10 sent advance questions. As a result, Bahrain was addressed 245 recommendations. We are pleased that all the recommendations will be examined and the response will be provided by Bahrainno later than the fifty-second session of the Human Rights Council.

The troika would like to thank the delegation of Bahrain, led by the HonourableMinister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Dr. Abdullatif Rashed Alzayani, as well as other delegations, for their constructive and active engagement, in the process and the preparation of this report.

The troika would also like to thank the secretariat for its active support during the entire process.

With this in mind, the troika submits this report to the Working Group for adoption. Thank you Mr. President.
