Statement by India during the Interactive Dialogue in the 4th UPR of Indonesia in the 41st Session of the Universal Periodic Review Working Group (07-18 November 2022) delivered by Mr. Senthil Kumar, First Secretary, Permanent Mission of India [Geneva, 9 November 2022]

Mr. President,

India extends a warm welcome to the delegation of Indonesia and thanks them for the presentation of their National Report.

  1. As a fellow member of the Human Rights Council, we appreciate Indonesia’s efforts in taking necessary steps to achieve significant progress in protecting and promoting human rights through various measures outlined in the National Report.
  1. 3. We welcome the various policy and response measures to mitigate the Covid-19 pandemic. We commend Indonesia for its impressive achievements in the fields of health and education especially the efforts to improve comprehensive health services for women and children.
  1. 4. In the spirit of dialogue and constructive cooperation, India recommends the following to Indonesia:
    1. i. Continue efforts for effectively implementing the national laws and policy measures aimed at eradicating discrimination in all its forms.
    1. ii. Take necessary steps to achieving equal access to quality education, including for children from low-income families.
    1. iii. Consider allocating adequate resources to provide human rights training and awareness raising programmes to law enforcement officials, judiciary and media.
  1. 5. Finally, we wish Indonesia all success in its future endeavors.
