Explanation of Vote by India on Consideration of the Resolution A/HRC/51/L.33 on “Human Rights and Transitional Justice” at the 51st Session of Human Rights Council (12 September - 7 October 2022) delivered by Ms. Seema Pujani, First Secretary, Permanent Mission of India, Geneva
(7 October 2022)

Mr. President,

India is not a State Party to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. Therefore, we are unable to endorse the preambular paragraph 20 in its present form. We disassociate ourselves from the preambular paragraph 20 of this resolution. However, in view of the importance that we attach to human rights as well as transitional justice, we join the consensus on the resolution.

I thank you, Mr. President.
