Mr. President,

India welcomes the delegation of Ghana and thanks it for presentation on the action taken to implement the recommendations received during Ghana’s third UPR.

  1. We note with appreciation efforts of the Government of Ghana to promote and protect the rights of its citizens especially the poor, marginalized and vulnerable people and its policies to ensure social justice and rule of law. We also welcome the coming into force of the Right to Information Act, 2019 in 2020.
  2. In the constructive spirit of dialogue, India recommends the following measures to Ghana:
  3. Expedite the efforts to ratify the Optional Protocol to the Convention on Rights of Child on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography; and
  4. Continue to take measures to ensure adequate standard of living for persons with disabilities.
  5. We wish Ghana every success in its endeavours to promote and protect human rights of its people.
