Statement by India under Agenda Item 10 : Interactive Dialogue with Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in Cambodia at the 51st Session of Human Rights Council (12 September - 7 October 2022) delivered by   Mr. S. Senthil Kumar, First Secretary, Permanent Mission of India, Geneva (5 October, 2022)

Mr. Vice-President,

India takes note of the second report of the Special Rapporteur.

India and Cambodia enjoy warm and friendly relations. India has been assisting Cambodia with socio-economic projects in the fields of agriculture, health, women empowerment, capacity building, sanitation, environment and information technology every year. We stand committed to support Cambodia in its developmental efforts.

We commend Cambodia for progress and achievements made in rolling out several social protection measures in support of women and children, migrant workers and other vulnerable groups, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic.

My delegation believes that enhancement of State’s capacity through technical assistance and capacity building measures, in consultation with, and with the consent of, the State concerned contributes towards the improvement of the human rights situation on the ground.

We appreciate the positive cooperation of the Government of Cambodia with the OHCHR and welcome Cambodia’s engagement and constructive dialogue with the Special Rapporteur, including unfettered access to the country and the series of dialogues with the SR.

I thank you, Mr. Vice-President.
