Statement by India under Agenda Item 5 : Interactive Dialogue with the Human Rights Council Advisory Committee at the 51st Session of Human Rights Council (12 September - 7 October 2022) delivered by Mr. S. Senthil Kumar, First Secretary, Permanent Mission of India, Geneva

Mr. President,
India thanks the Advisory Committee for the activities that it has undertaken this year.
Since its inception, the Advisory Committee, as the Council’s expert body, has provided research-based advice to the Council and has allowed it to consider innovative views and perspectives about important human rights issues, including emerging topical themes. We value the Committee’s independent expertise on bringing a wide range of human rights issues relevant to member States for the Council’s attention.
We look forward to the Advisory Committee studies on ‘the impact of new technologies for climate protection on the enjoyment of human rights’ and ‘the advancement of racial justice and equality’. We have taken note of the new research proposals and reflections, including, on ‘the human rights implications of neuro-technologies’ and ‘the implications of use of new and emerging technologies developed in the military domain’, which are before the Council’s consideration
In conclusion, my delegation values the work done by the Advisory Committee and reiterate our firm commitment and support to it.
