[Geneva, 6th October, 2021]

 Madam President,

India takes note of the report of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of Human Rights in Cambodia.

India and Cambodia enjoy warm and friendly relations. India has been assisting Cambodia with Socio-Economic projects in the fields of agriculture, health, women empowerment, capacity building, sanitation, environment and information technology every year. We stand committed to support Cambodia in its developmental efforts.

We believe that enhancement of State’s capacity through technical assistance and capacity building measures in consultation with, and with the consent of, the State concerned could contribute towards the improvement of the human rights situation on the ground.

We appreciate the positive cooperation of the Government of Cambodia with the Office of High Commissioner and welcome Cambodia’s engagement and constructive dialogue with the Special Rapporteur, including unfettered access to the country and the series of virtual dialogues with the SR.

I thank you, Madam President.
