Thank you, Madam President.

India has already made a comprehensive statement on behalf of the Like-Minded group of Countries on this agenda Item.

However, we would like to add in our national capacity that the UPR Voluntary Fund for Financial and Technical Assistance which has been in existence since 2007, has helped several countries in implementing UPR recommendations.  We have this year as well contributed to this fund. In our view, the Fund and other capacity building initiatives under the aegis of United Nations should focus on the recommendations accepted by the States themselves which would further strengthen the UPR mechanism as well as improve the human rights situation on the ground.

Thank you, Madam President.
