Madam President,

India warmly welcomes the delegation of Palau for the adoption of the report of the Working Group on its 3rd Universal Periodic Review that was held on 07 May, 2021. 

2. The review had witnessed substantive participation, with 52 delegations taking the floor and making a total of 142 recommendations.

3. India appreciates that as many as 67 recommendations have been accepted by Palau, including 3 of our recommendations. We also appreciate the constructive engagement by the delegation of Palau during the review, a reflection of the strong commitment Palau attaches to the UPR process. 

4. India had commended Palau for the measures taken to mitigate the impact of climate change and to improve adaptation capabilities. We had also acknowledged the challenges and constraints faced by Palau and expressed our commitment to cooperation in Palau’s development.

5. We warmly congratulate Palau for a successful review and wish them all the success in their efforts for implementing the accepted recommendations.
