Statement by India at the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group 36th Session (02-13 November 2020): 3rd UPR of Croatia - Interactive Dialogue, delivered by Shri Pawan Badhe, First Secretary, Permanent Mission of India [Geneva, 10 November 2020]

Madam President,

India warmly welcomes the delegation of Croatia and thanks the delegation for their presentation.

2. We take positive note of adoption of Croatia’s National Strategy for Combating Poverty to Social Exclusion in order to take care of most vulnerable groups exposed to poverty and social exclusion. While commending the adoption of a law on protection against domestic violence and of a national strategy for protection against family violence, we look forward to the National Programme for Protection and promotion of human rights which is under drafting.

3. In the constructive spirit of cooperation, India makes the following recommendations to Croatia:

  1. take necessary measures to adopt a comprehensive approach to preventing and addressing violence against women in all its forms.

  1. Continue to strengthen measures in implementing the legislation pertaining to gender discrimination at workplace.

  1. Strengthen its laws and policies to ensure that children with disabilities are protected on an equal basis with others.

4. We wish the delegation of Croatia all success in its review.
