Statement by India at the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group 35th Session (20-31 January 2020) : 3rd UPR of Kuwait - Interactive Dialogue, delivered by Ambassador Rajiv K. Chander, Permanent Representative of India [Geneva, 29 January 2020]

Mr. Vice President,

India warmly welcomes the delegation of Kuwait and notes with appreciation the steps taken by Kuwait for the promotion and protection of human rights such as measures for empowering women, efforts for combatting human trafficking and promotion of the rights of migrant workers.

2. India recommends the following to Kuwait:

(1) Continue the ongoing measures for empowering women and promoting their rights and freedoms in all spheres

(2) Continue efforts towards protection of the rights of migrant workers

(3) Continue efforts to enable linking of the labour market with skilled workers and those with higher education

(4) Intensify efforts for promoting the rights of persons with disabilities including ensuring inclusive education for the children with disabilities
