Statement by India on Agenda item 11: Election of Officers - Delivered by Dr. Sadre Alam, First Secretary (WHO HQs, 10-12 December, 2019)
We express our sincere gratitude to the the PCB for reposing its confidence and faith in us. We assure you of our full commitment, support and cooperation.
2. We join others in felicitating the other new office bearers, the United States of America and the Republic of Namibia with whom we look forward to working together and wish to thank the outgoing office bearers especially the People’s Republic of China, the Chair, for the good work accomplished this year under its guidance and leadership.
3. We also warmly welcome the new NGO members and wish to take this opportunity to thank the Secretariat for putting in place the new practice of providing as part of the background document necessary information on the NGO nomination process, as requested by our delegation in the previous PCB meeting for the sake of transparency and an informed PCB decision while being fully cognizant of the need for maintaining the independence of the process.
