Mr. President,

We thank and commend the President of the HRC, the Bureau and the Secretariat of the HRC for the efficient conduct of all the HRC sessions this year and for upholding rules of procedure and standard practice of the Council in these sessions.

2. India’s engagement with the global discourse on human rights has always favoured an inclusive and constructive approach based on dialogue, consultation and cooperation. We have been against vitiating the atmosphere of the Council through politicization of human rights issues. Unfortunately, we have observed the misuse of the Council by one country for its own self-serving political agenda. We have earlier in the Session responded in detail on the issue referred to.

3. India remains committed towards meaningful engagement with the Council. We would continue constructive engagement to bring in a pluralistic, moderate and balanced perspective in the human rights agenda.

Thank you, Mr. President.
