Statement by India under Adoption of the Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review of DRC in the 42nd Session of the Human Rights Council

Mr. Vice President,
1.India warmly welcomes the delegation of DRC for the adoption of the report of the Working Group on its UPR.
2. The review saw participation and engagement with as many as 99 delegations taking the floor and making 267 recommendations. India notes that as many as 239 recommendations have been accepted by DRC including recommendations made by India.
3. India takes note of the difficulties and obstacles encountered in the implementation of the recommendations adopted during the second UPR of DRC. India appreciates adoption of acts giving effect to women’s rights and gender parity as well as acts to guarantee women’s participation in political matters.
4. While recommending the adoption of the report, we warmly congratulate DRC for its successful review and wish it all success in implementing the accepted recommendations
