Statement by India under Adoption of the Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review of Albania in the 42nd Session of the Human Rights Council (09-27 September 2019), delivered by Ms Mini Devi Kumam, First Secretary,

Mr. Vice President,
1.India warmly welcomes the delegation of Albania for the adoption of the report of the Working Group on its Universal Periodic Review undertaken on 6th May 2019.
2. The review saw constructive participation with 66 delegations taking the floor and making 197 recommendations. India notes that as many as 186 recommendations have been accepted by Albania including recommendations made by India. India appreciates constructive engagement by Albania during the review process.
3. India appreciates that Albania has accepted most of the recommendations and that most of the recommendations are being implemented while some have already been implemented. Several measures particularly on empowerment of women, gender equality and rights of child presented during the review are noteworthy.
4. While recommending the adoption of the report on its UPR, we warmly congratulate Albania for its successful review and wish it all success in its efforts in implementing its accepted recommendations.
