Statement by India under Adoption of the Report of the Working
Group on the Universal Periodic Review of Comoros
in the 41stSession of the Human Rights Council ( 24 June – 12 July 2019), delivered by Mr. Vimarsh Aryan, First Secretary, Permanent Mission of India, (Geneva, 05 July 2019)
Mr. President,
1.India warmly welcomes the delegation of Comoros for the adoption of the report of the Working Group on its Universal Periodic Review undertaken on 25th January 2019.
2.The review saw participation and engagement with as many as 74 delegations taking the floor and making 177 recommendations. India notes that as many as 163 recommendations have been accepted by Comoros. We appreciate accepting our recommendations. It is also noted that Comoros had endevoured to consolidate its social policy in favour of children, women and persons with disabilities on the basis of all the recommendations received. We also understand that Comoros focused on recommendations that would require education and awareness considering the priorities of its people.
3.While recommending the adoption of the report on its UPR, we warmly congratulate Comoros for its successful review and wish it all success in its efforts in implementing its accepted recommendations.
