Statement by India under Adoption of the Report of the Working
Group on the Universal Periodic Review of Slovakia
in the 41stSession of the Human Rights Council ( 24 June – 12 July 2019),

Mr. President,
1.India warmly welcomes the delegation of Slovakia for the adoption of the report of the Working Group on its Universal Periodic Review undertaken on 28th January 2019.
2.The review saw participation and engagement with as many as 80 delegations taking the floor and making 195 recommendations. India notes that as many as 176 recommendations have been accepted by Slovakia. Slovakia informed the members during the review among other initiatives that adoption of a national strategy for the protection and promotion of human rights in 2015, through a participatory and inclusive process with the help of the Council for Human Rights, National Minorities and Gender Equality. The steps taken on gender equality, protection of women and children, implementation of Roma Integration strategy were well explained during the review.
3.While recommending the adoption of the report on its UPR, we warmly congratulate Slovakia for its successful review and wish it all success in its efforts in implementing its accepted recommendations.
