Statement by India on Agenda Item 6: Report by the External Auditor at the 28th session of the Programme and Budget Committee delivered by Shri Animesh Choudhury (September 10 to 14, 2018), First Secretary at the World Intellectual Property Organisation, Geneva on 10th September 2018.

 

Thank You Mr Chair,

India would like to thank the External Auditor of WIPO-the Comptroller and Auditor General of India for the report contained in document WO/PBC/28/4.

2. The report is comprehensive, timely and makes some valuable recommendations with respect to the Madrid System and on the sound financial management of assets of the organization.

3. India is pleased to note that WIPO has accepted most of the 16 recommendations of the External Auditor. We are positive that the Secretariat will world towards closure of all recommendations.

4. The Comptroller and Auditor General of India as an External Auditor has a rich experience in undertaking audit of various international organizations and has received worldwide praise. It maintains the highest degree of professional standards, competence and trustworthiness in its work.

5. Before concluding, India would also like to congratulate the National Audit Office of the United Kingdom for its election as the next External Auditor of WIPO.
