Statement by India delivered during the 43rd Programme Coordinating Board Meeting of UNAIDS on Agenda Item 10 by Dr. Sadre Alam, First Secretary (WHO HQs, 11-13 December, 2018)
Thank you, Madam Chair.
1. We thank the outgoing Chair and other office bearers for the work done during their tenure and wish to congratulate China on assuming the position of the Chair and other new office bearers.
2. As a PCB Member, we assure you of our full cooperation and support and look forward to receiving the same.
3. We value the contribution and participation of civil society and fully support their constructive engagement in UNAIDS. On the composition of the NGO delegation to the PCB, my delegation wishes to understand the process and methodology which should be transparent and objective. We seek information about the number of NGOs consulted region-wise and details about them. We request that this information, including the latest list of NGOs enjoying an observer status, be shared with all Members of the PCB and, in future, always as a background document. The decision of the PCB on agenda item 10 should reflect this request in order for us to support it.
