Thank you Chair, I would now touch upon six points regarding the women and children. First is about sexual offences against children. To address child sex abuse, India enacted a law that has child friendly mechanisms for reporting a crime, recording of evidence, investigation, speedy trial of offences and in-camera trial through designated Special Courts. A nation-wide toll free helpline for rescuing and assisting children in distress is operational and assists many cases every year. In fact, the case has run into a few hundred thousands. In case of any conflict within existing legislations, this law has overriding effect.
