On the issue of Marital Rape, the Law Commission of India, while making its 172nd Report on “Review of Rape Laws” in March, 2000 did not recommend criminalization of marital rape. After a commission gave its opinion to favour this, the Law Commission has now been requested by the Govt. to deliberate upon the subject during its comprehensive review of Criminal Justice System.
